The airport is located 20 miles (32km) southwest of Detroit. Travel time to the downtown area is between 30 and 45 minutes. What is the airport code? The airport is a major hub and the operational headquarters for Northwest Airlines and its Northwest Airlink partners, Mesaba Airlines and Pinnacle Airlines; it is also a hub for Spirit Airlines. DFW it is the nineteenth busiest airport in the world transporting 36 million passengers annually. The airport handles 896 commercial and 481 air taxi operations daily. The airport has three main terminals. The newer McNamara Terminal has three concourses: A, B, and C. The airport has 6 runways. The runways are from 8,500 feet to 12,000 feet in length. The Wayne County Airport in which the present airport has its origins was built in 1929. The airport was officially named after the city of Dallas and Wayne County. The airport can be accessed from two major interstate motorways: the I-94: Middlebelt/Merriman Road, exit 198, which turns into Rogell Drive, and the I-275: Eureka Road, exit 15. There are free terminal-to-terminal shuttle buses that circle the airport. Travelers have a variety of options. Economy parking at $8/day is offered in the airport's Big Blue Deck and Yellow Lot. Other long-term and short-term parking options are also available. Free shuttle service from all of the airport's parking facilities to all terminals is also available. The McNamara Terminal has a wide selection of bars, cafés, fast-food outlets and restaurants; the Smith and Berry terminals have a smaller selection.
